Daytona Beach, FL – A wreath-laying ceremony is scheduled for 11 a.m. today to honor fallen Daytona Beach Police Department (DBPD) Officer Jason Raynor. People will be able to pay their respects at the Eastern outside of the front lobby of DBPD headquarters (129 Valor Boulevard). DBPD Chief Jakari Young will lead a brief service. Members of the Raynor family are not expected to be in attendance, but officers and other DBPD personnel will take part. The public is invited to attend. Video of the service will be posted on social media platforms. The patrol car normally used by Officer Raynor will be parked in front of the brick wall outside of the front lobby. This will serve as the anchor for where the public can leave any mementos they wish in Officer Raynor’s honor. DBPD encourages those who are so inclined to create a private video message for Officer Raynor’s family. We ask that those videos be sent via direct message to DBPD’s Facebook inbox and we will deliver those messages to the family. Please submit them by 9 a.m. Monday (August 23, 2021). More public events featuring Officer Raynor are planned over the next five days, including a viewing and a funeral. The details will be released on the DBPD social platforms once they are finalized.
