Volusia To Allocate Nearly $500k For Emergency Home Repair Program

Daytona Beach, FL – Later this month, Volusia County officials will accept emergency home repair applications from homeowners financially affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. The program funds jobs such as septic tank pump-outs and central heat and air repair or replacement for homeowners that are eligible. That’s because the county is expecting about $1,245,522 in relief funds from the Florida Housing Finance Corporation. But only $482,400 of the supposed $1.2 million relief funds will be used for the emergency home repair program. In order to be eligible for emergency repairs, the home must be the applicant’s main residence, located on land owned by the applicant and cannot be a mobile or manufactured home built before 1994. Assistance will also be provided on a "first-ready, first served" basis, per the county’s release on the matter. Additionally, a limited number of applications will be accepted based on funding availability. Applications will be available beginning next Thursday (August 20th) and will be accepted through September 2nd. You can find them through Volusia County’s COVID-19 Emergency Repair page. You can also pick them up in person at Volusia’s Community Assistance Division, found off West Rich Avenue in DeLand. From there, applications can be submitted electronically through a secure upload portal on the program website. You can also mail them to the Community Assistance office.  They are open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Applications will not be accepted before August 20th
