Volusia & Lake County Deputies Stop Stolen Vehicle

DeLand, FL – Deputies lend a hand and help the Lake County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) stop a stolen SUV that made its way into Volusia County. Volusia deputies were made aware of the situation around 7:00 Tuesday night (August 25th) after the Lake County Sheriff’s office informed local authorities that a stolen vehicle was traveling towards the county line. According to LCSO, the vehicle had fled following an attempted traffic stop. As the vehicle crossed over the Whitehair Bridge, Volusia deputies deployed stop sticks that successfully stuck the vehicle. The vehicle, a gray Dodge Durango SUV, continued after striking the stop sticks but eventually stopped near Old New York Avenue. After the vehicle stopped, both LCSO and Volusia deputies secured the driver, 37-year-old Juan Trevino of Winter Park, and his passenger, 34-year-old Jasmine Mott, who is also from Winter Park. Once the vehicle was secured, deputies conducted a search and found half of a white pill and a black box that contained a glass smoking pipe and suspected methamphetamine, which yielded a presumptive positive result during a field test. During questioning, Mott stated that the pill was a Xanax that she did not have a prescription for. Additionally, Mott denied ownership of the black box. Mott was then charged with multiple possession charges for drug paraphernalia, methamphetamine and a controlled substance. She was brought to Volusia County Branch Jail where she remains on a $5,500 bond. Trevino, on the other hand, was arrested and charged by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. News Daytona Beach is currently waiting on Trevino’s arrest report. However, search results from Volusia County Corrections shows Trevino has been booked in Volusia twice, once in 2003 and again in 2004. We’ll provide updates once they are made available.
