The Fourth of July is quickly approaching in Volusia County, leading to a series of scheduling accommodations made by the county government in observance of the holiday. The county has announced a series of notices for residents to be aware of for the coming holiday. All county administrative offices will be closed in observance of July 4th. Beach Access and Policies Residents looking for up-to-date information on beach access openings are encouraged to look on the Volusia Beaches app. The app will also provide updates about weather, the tide, locations of manned lifeguard towers and public restrooms, and beach safety rules. Those planning on parking their car at the beach can register their vehicles through ParkVolusia, which the county says will provide complimentary beach driving access and parking in county-operated parking lots off of the beach. Fireworks will not be allowed at any beach in Volusia County due to the potential impact to sea turtle nests, local wildlife, and beachgoers. They are, however, allowed for private usage on select holidays across most of the county with the exception of certain municipalities who’ve enacted ordinances outlawing them. Trash Collection – Unincorporated Volusia County The Volusia County government says solid waste collection will not be affected for unincorporated Volusia County on July 4th. Residents with a regular trash pickup on Friday are asked to leave their waste at the curb by 6:00 am as they usually would. The Tomoka Landfill and West Volusia Transfer Station will remain open on July 4th, the county says. Hours for the landfill will be 7:00 to 5:30 pm while hours for the transfer station will be 7:00 am to 5:00 pm. Votran Bus Service Votran bus services will still be operating on July 4th, but on a limited schedule. Those running a regular Sunday schedule will include Routes 1, 3, 4, 10, 15, and 17. All others will not run, nor will New Smyrna Beach Flex and VoRide. Votran Gold will be running with limited service in Daytona Beach on July 4th. Regular service for all services under Votran’s operations will resume on July 5th. Riders seeking more information are asked to call (386) 761-7700. Public Libraries The county government says all branches of the Volusia County Public Library branches will be closing early at 5:00 pm on Thursday, July 3rd. They will be closed all day on July 4th. For July 5th, the branches will all operate under their normal hours on July 5th.
