DeLand , FL – Registration is now open for the First-time Homebuyer Program offered by the University of Florida/Volusia County Extension. The pre-purchase homebuyer workshops meet the education requirement that allows people to apply for a federal down payment and closing cost assistance available through Volusia County, Seminole County and the City of Deltona. The Zoom classes consist of eight hours of education and are available in English and Spanish. There’s one all-day class of eight hours with the other classes being split in to two four-hour sessions. The class instructor is Extension Agent Lisa Hamilton, a HUD-certified housing counselor and accredited financial counselor. 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Jan. 14 and 21 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Jan. 18 (in Spanish) 5 to 9 p.m. Jan. 24 and 25 5 to 9 p.m. Feb. 8 and 15 (in Spanish) 5 to 9 p.m. Feb. 17 and 24 Participants will receive a certificate of completion.
