VCC Approves Participation Agreements With Elections & Property Appraiser’s Offices

DeLand, FL – Both the Supervisor of Elections and Property Appraiser Offices are another step closer to operational autonomy regarding Amendment 10 after the Volusia County Council approved Participation Agreements with both agencies today (November 10). County Manager George Recktenwald explained the general overview of the agreements, which are the same for both agencies.  There are five sections, which still utilize the County’s services, including the payment of invoices and the maintenance and replacement of their computers:  "One is the fleet maintenance and acquisition of any vehicles. The second is facilities, the next section is employee benefits, self-insurance is the fourth area, and the last section is financial and IT."  The agreements are very good, according to Recktenwald, and they benefit the citizens of Volusia County. "You know, we’re a leader in this. They’ll be other counties that will be following suit. In the years to come, I think they’ll be coming here to see how it’s done. We’ve done a great job, staff, I have to give a big shoutout to Jeaniene Jennings who led the effort."  The amendment takes effect on Jan. 5, 2021.
