Palm Coast, FL – Just before the start of the new year, Flagler County deputies launch an investigation into a shooting that broke out after a home invasion on Regent Lane, sending two men to the hospital. Details about the shooting, which took place on Wednesday (Dec. 29), are scarce. A press release from the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) states that the shooting was “targeted” and stemmed from an armed robbery. “At this time, there’s no additional information we can provide but as the investigation evolves, we will ensure the community is informed,” said Sheriff Rick Staly. “We want to remind the public that there is no threat to the community, as our detectives have been working this case to understand the circumstances leading up to the shooting” The shooting saw the hospitalization of two men, including 23-year-old Zaire Roberts, who spent time behind bars following the shooting of another man during a confrontation in 2016. Data from the Florida Department of Corrections shows Roberts was released in September and listed a residence in Hapeville, Georgia as his address. An article from FlaglerLive.com says unconfirmed reports suggest Roberts died as a result of the shooting, but that has yet to be confirmed by investigators. At this time, the investigation remains active and ongoing, with no arrests made so far. Anyone who may have information about this incident is asked to contact FCSO investigators by calling 386-313-4911, or emailing TIPS@FlaglerSheriff.com. Alternatively, you can call CrimeStoppers at 1-888-277-TIPS (8477). We will update this report as more details become available.
