POCC Chooses Interim City Manager, Plans For National Search

Port Orange, FL – A national search for a new city manager will begin in the near future in Port Orange. That decision was made at Tuesday night’s special meeting as well as appointing an interim city manager.  Council member Chase Tramont says the first course of action was to choose an interim city manager. Current Assistant City Manager Alan Rosen will step in on Friday, December 11 at 5 p.m. which is when Michael “Jake” Johansson’s resignation goes into effect.  "We’re really excited about Alan Rosen, he’s been here a number of years. He knows the lay of the land, he knows the players, he knows what the mission is for Port Orange. He’s done a terrific job at the helm and in Jake’s absence in previous times, he’s always done a terrific job taking over." Tramont said that the city has a history of hiring from in house. A city of Port Orange’s caliber is certainly worthy of a national search for a city manager according to Tramont. The first task is to hire a firm. We did that the last time we hired a city manager, which is when we found Johansson.  "We’ve also discussed putting together a Citizens Advisory Board to have an active voice in that. We certainly want influence and participation from the residents of Port Orange." Johansson’s resignation is effective December eleventh.
