Daytona Beach, FL - Volusia’s 25th annual International Coastal Cleanup isn’t until mid-September, but registration for the event is drawing to a close in a week. And this Coastal Cleanup might feel a bit different than the usual event. That’s because organizers plan to keep volunteers what they call “together apart,” meaning that they will maintain social distancing throughout the cleanup. There will also be three different days for the cleanup, September 18th, 19th and 20th. And when volunteers register, they will not be registering for a specific day. Instead, you have your choice of one of those three days. Participants are asked to bring garden gloves, drinking water in refillable bottles, and buckets for collecting trash. Volunteers should also bring a hat, sunscreen, comfortable clothing and outdoor footwear. Additionally, volunteers are encouraged to wear proper personal protective equipment, including a mask and gloves, and follow city mandates for social distancing.
