Ormond Beach, FL – The man that Ormond Beach Police (OBPD) say set fire at Sanchez Park to equipment in the playground dedicated to Cameron Brenneman is in the Volusia County Jail (VCJ) being held without bond. Fifty-one-year-old Zachary Edwards reported his bicycle stolen on Dec. 15, after officers found it in Sanchez Park while they were conducting an arson investigation there. Using video evidence from the area of Sanchez Park, detectives were able to identify Edwards as a possible suspect. OBPD Investigating Possible Arson At Sanchez Park Edwards went to OBPD to reclaim the bicycle on Dec. 22. He was confronted by detectives and confessed to setting the fire at the Sanchez Park playground. He’s also charged with making a false police report and violation of pre-trial release. According to the arrest report, damages at Sanchez Park are estimated at $81,000. Checking court records, Edwards got out of the VCJ on Dec. 14, on Pre-Trial Service Release, after being held there since Sept. 24, 2021 on Assault/Threat to do Violence and Resisting an Officer Without Violence charges. That arrest report noted that Edwards had previously been charged with Domestic Battery on a person over 65
