“Nuisance” Property Owner Arrested By Police Again

Daytona Beach, FL – The owner of a Daytona Beach motel is facing charges after letting narcotics related activity continue on his property for months, even after the same motel has been raided multiple times by police. The Daytona Beach Police Department (DBPD) took 69-year-old Frederick Hoffman into custody Friday afternoon (February 26th) after securing an arrest warrant for keeping a public nuisance structure for drug activity.  Hoffman’s property, the Best Southern Sun Plaza Motel, has been the subject of two raids by the DBPD in the last two months. Police first raided the Ridgewood Avenue motel back in December, also resulting in an arrest for Hoffman. In that raid, police seized guns, drugs, real and fake currency, ammunition and multiple different types of drug paraphernalia. Hoffman’s arrest that day also resulted in a similar charge for keeping a public nuisance structure for drug activity. His property manager, 63-year-old Dennis Kindziera, was also arrested during that raid and faced the same charge as Hoffman. The latest raid on the nuisance property came just days before his current arrest when officers arrested four individuals, some of whom were charged with trafficking and armed trafficking. Police additionally seized a multitude of narcotics, along with almost $1,500 in narcotics currency and a handgun. Hoffman currently remains in custody in the Volusia County Branch Jail with bond set at $25,000. Court records additionally show that Hoffman posted bond for his first arrest back in December, but if the State Attorney’s Office (SAO) were to have its way, Hoffman could stay in jail because of this arrest. Court documents obtained by News Daytona Beach show that the State Attorney’s Office has filed a motion to revoke Hoffman’s original bond from his first case, citing his current arrest as the main reason why. "(The State) hereby moves this Honorable Court to revoke the present bond of the Defendant because there is probable cause to believe the Defendant committed a new offense while on bond in this case," the motion stated. Court records also show Hoffman is slated to attend a pre-trial hearing on March 2nd.
