Daytona Beach, FL – After making landfall as a Category 1 Hurricane, Tropical Storm Elsa continues on a path over the Florida Panhandle as the system makes its way into Georgia. All hurricane warnings issued by the National Hurricane Center (NHC) in preparation for Elsa’s landfall have been downgraded back into tropical storm warnings. Tropical storm warnings are now active for the entirety of Georgia and South Carolina’s coast. Tropical storm watches have also been issued for parts of the east coast, stretching from Duck, North Carolina to Chincoteague, Virginia. On the NHC’s current track, Elsa is expected to be near South Carolina by early Thursday morning (July 8) before continuing northeast towards the Chesapeake Bay, where the storm is expected to exit out over the Atlantic Ocean. From there, the storm is expected to skirt up the eastern coast of the United States before crossing over Nova Scotia and Newfoundland. This report concludes News Daytona Beach’s coverage of Tropical Storm Elsa’s forecast.
