The Volusia Sheriff’s Office has seized 13 pounds of cocaine and 15 pounds of methamphetamine in a local drug bust, the agency announced Tuesday. 50-year-old Alvin Davis is accused of using a Port Orange residence to act as a drug supplier. The investigation into Davis began in October when a search warrant was served at a home on Pelican Bay Road in Daytona Beach. At that point the VSO arrested Rakim Shabazz and his partner Sheanett Range for allegedly selling drugs out of the home, and they recovered cocaine, fentanyl, methamphetamine, and oxycodone. Narcotics detectives with the VSO investigated the case and came to the conclusion that Davis was the supplier of that drug operation. He was alleged to have been trafficking drugs from South Florida, and detectives tracked him as he arrived back in Volusia County this week. On Monday he was said to have arrived at a residence on Old Hammock Road in Port Orange. From there, law enforcement tracked him to the Volusia Mall and reportedly saw him looking through packages in his vehicle that appeared to contain multiple kilograms of cocaine. (1 kilogram is equal to about 2.2 pounds). Deputies arrested Davis, charging him with trafficking in cocaine and in methamphetamine. Over 28 pounds of drugs were recovered from his vehicle, the VSO says, along with cash and packaging that appeared to be used for drug trafficking. Davis is being held at the Volusia County Jail on no bond. As a Jamaican national, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security revoked his legal status and his deportation has been initiated pending prosecution.
