Bunnell, FL - A man found guilty of sexually abusing a young girl back in 2019 learns from a judge that he will spend the rest of his life in prison. 55-year-old Leon Wiley Jr.’s charges stem from a case reported to the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) back in February 2019. In that case, a mother told the FCSO that her 7-year-old daughter told her she was sexually abused by Wiley. The mother also told investigators that she was also one of Wiley’s victims from the time she was 12-years-old to February 2019. Just over a year after his April 2020 arrest, Wiley was convicted of sexual battery on a child in familial or custodial authority, tampering with a witness, and unlawful sexual activity with certain minors. According to the FCSO, the tampering charge was added after Wiley reportedly contacted the victims and offered money in exchange for dropping the case. "I hope this sentencing can bring some closure to the victim and her family," Flagler Sheriff Rick Staly said. "I thank the judge for handing down a tough sentence to this disgusting person." Wiley is currently awaiting trial in Volusia County on similar charges stemming from this investigation. According to court records obtained by News Daytona Beach, Wiley is due back in court the morning of August 9.
