DeLand, FL - A man who reportedly sexually battered a child over the course of three years learns he will spend the rest of his life behind bars. A Volusia County jury of six individuals—four men and two women—took only 48 minutes to return a guilty verdict to 46-year-old Atiim Pittman, who was charged with one count of capital sexual battery and one count of lewd and lascivious molestation. Immediately following his 2-day trial, Circuit Judge James Clayton sentenced Pittman to life in prison. A press release from the State Attorney’s Office (SAO) says Pittman was accused of sexually battering a child under the age of 12 over a period of almost three years between 2015 and 2018. "The defendant got what he deserved," said State Attorney RJ Larizza.
