With Biketoberfest 2026 having ended on October 18, Daytona Beach’s Halifax Health Medical Center announced the statistics on injuries related to the event. 19 patients were treated for injuries that were tied to the annual motorcycle gathering. Of the 19 patients that were treated, 13 were said to be trauma activations and admissions. This amounts to the lowest such total in the last six years that Biketoberfest has been held. Thankfully, none of the 19 patients who were admitted died upon arrival or while in hospital care. 16 cases handled by Halifax Health were described as motorcycle accidents. With 15 riders involved in those 16 crashes, 10 were reportedly wearing a helmet. Florida law allows motorcycle riders who are at least 12 years old to ride without a helmet if they have insurance coverage with at least $10,000 in medical benefits. This long-standing policy went into effect in 2000. “While we are encouraged to see fewer serious injuries this year, our teams remain prepared to respond at a moment’s notice,” said Halifax Health Nursing Director Lindsay Duffy. “Every Biketoberfest patient receives the highest level of specialized care, and these outcomes reflect the dedication, skill and collaboration of Team Members across Halifax Health.” Halifax Health provided a few statistics on the patients treated for Biketoberfest-related injuries. 18 men and one woman were admitted, and the median patient age was 58. Only three patients were residents of Volusia County, with four coming from elsewhere in Florida and 12 hailing from outside of the state.
