DeLand, Fl – Volusia County residents interested in learning more about plants and gardening can do so at several locations around the county this month. Volunteers with the University of Florida/Volusia County Extension Master Gardener’s Program have several clinics planned. On Tuesday, Jan. 4, three clinics are scheduled across the county. From 10 a.m. until noon, there’s one taking place at the Environmental Discovery Center, 601 Division Ave. in Ormond Beach. During the afternoon, a clinic is scheduled from 1 until 2:30 p.m. at the DeLand Regional Library, 130 E. Howry Ave. The last one is at the New Smyrna Beach Regional Library, 1001 S. Dixie Freeway, from 1:30 until 3 p.m. These clinics are happening later this month: 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Jan. 8, at the Deltona Regional Library, 2150 Eustace Ave. 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 12, at Sugar Mill Gardens, 950 Sugar Mill Road, Port Orange 2 to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 18, at the Port Orange Regional Library, 1005 City Center Circle Master Gardener volunteers complete a 50-hour plus training course provided by the University of Florida and the local county Extension office. To become a Master Gardener, you must have an interest in gardening, a desire to help others in your community, and a dedication to complete the training and service hours.
