Daytona Beach, FL – State Troopers and detectives are investigating after a fleeing suspect caused a fatal head-on collision on I-95. According to the Volusia Sheriff’s Office (VSO), an armed carjacking suspect from the Orlando area fled from Flagler County deputies and eventually made their way into Volusia. Around 7 p.m. on Tuesday (December 29th), the suspect made a u-turn on I-95 and continued in the opposite direction. At that time, Volusia deputies called off their pursuit and attempted to stop the flow of southbound traffic on I-95. The suspect continued northbound in the southbound lanes until they collided with an oncoming vehicle near the area of Exit 260A. Reports suggest that the suspect, along with two other drivers, died as a result of the crash. VSO says Florida Highway Patrol is currently investigating the fatal crash.
