FHP: Orange City Woman Struck & Killed

DeLand, FL – An investigation is underway after a car struck and killed an Orange City woman the night of New Year’s Day. Florida Highway Patrol says the incident happened around 9:05 Saturday (Jan. 1) night, sending law enforcement to the area of Woodland Boulevard and International Speedway Boulevard/US-92. A report from state troopers says a 32-year-old DeLand man was driving southbound on Woodland as the woman was walking in the southbound travel lanes. The front of his vehicle struck the woman, who was pronounced deceased at the scene. The investigation remains active and ongoing. It is unclear if criminal charges are pending in this incident.
