Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University is hosting ‘The Avion Show’ on Monday, March 31st at 6:00 pm, showcasing the long history of the campus’ official news operation. The showcase is in the Nicole Stott Gallery at the school’s Daytona Beach campus. The showcase will honor a special anniversary for The Avion, which first began providing news to ERAU students in 1969. The aviation school itself first opened in 1965, and is rated as the fourth best flight school in America by Aviation Job Search. According to information from The Avion, the exhibit is meant to “celebrate [The Avion’s] anniversary with an exhibit featuring its rich history on campus showcasing the very first issue ever published, issues that highlight monumental changes in the world or at the university, the change from newspaper to magazine, and important work from students”. The first 50 guests to arrive will receive a limited edition Avion bucket hat according to the event posting. Light refreshments and snacks will be provided. One of the chief organizers of the event is Penelope Anderson, the Editor-in-Chief for The Avion. She works alongside Managing Editor Camrin Coubertier, News Editor Dominic Popolo, Photo Editor Brandon Badraoui, Broadcast Manager Liam John, and Business Manager Emilee Imler according to the publication’s website.
