DeLand, FL – A one-vehicle accident caused traffic backups on EB I-4 just before 11 a.m. today (July 13). It also shut down the S.R. 44 entrance ramp to EB I-4 while crews worked to clear the accident. The accident was mostly cleared by noon. According to Volusia County Fire, the driver of a 2013 Mercedes Benz lost control of the vehicle near Mile Marker 122, a few miles past S.R. 44. The car rolled about 30 feet into the treeline overturning into a water-filled ditch. There were five people in the car, with one person’s legs being stuck under the vehicle. Fire Rescue was able to get her out quickly. Three people were entrapped, rescued, and taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
