Ormond Beach, FL - Officers with the Ormond Beach Police Department are investigating a fatal incident that killed a 62-year-old man trying to cross Granada Boulevard. Investigators say a black 2019 Toyota was traveling west on Granada as a pedestrian, who was identified as James Keyte of Ormond Beach, was trying to cross Granada northbound at Yonge Street/US 1 around 3:00 Wednesday morning (September 2nd). Eventually, the Toyota struck Keyte as he was crossing the road. The driver of the toyota, who remains unidentified, was uninjured. However, Keyte’s injuries were fatal. He later died at the scene. Initial reports from the crash say Keyte was not in a crosswalk at the time of the incident. The OBPD has not released any other information regarding the crash as the investigation is still active and ongoing. Once updates are sent, we’ll be sure to update this story.
