Driver Killed In Fatal Dump Truck Crash

Orange City, FL - Police are investigating after the driver of a vehicle was killed in a crash involving a dump truck. Units were called to the intersection of North Volusia Avenue and East Michigan Avenue around 1:20 Wednesday afternoon (October 7th) after receiving reports of a motor vehicle crash. When first responders arrived, they found an overturned dump truck and a passenger vehicle. The driver of the truck was taken to a hospital in DeLand with non-life threatening injuries, but the driver of the other vehicle, who has been identified by police as 62-year-old Aurelia Henderson of Orange City, was pronounced dead at the scene. #TRAFFICALERT: A fatal crash currently has all lanes of US-17/Volusia Ave shut down in Orange City at Minnesota Avenue.Expect heavy delays, seek an alternate route.
