Dollar Tree Announces Price Points Above $1

Daytona Beach, FL – They’re a chain known for their low prices; everything you see in-store is $1. But pretty soon you might see some items priced higher than a dollar at select Dollar Tree locations. The Chesapeake, Virginia-based company announced this week that they plan to build on their  Dollar Tree Plus—stores with items priced at $3 and $5—and “Combo” stores—locations that combine Dollar Tree Plus prices with their traditional $1 stock—initiatives.  Based on positive customer feedback and the success of the Dollar Tree Plus and “Combo” formats, the company plans to begin adding new price points above $1 across all Dollar Tree Plus stores and will begin testing additional price points above $1 in select legacy Dollar Tree stores. Earlier this year, Dollar Tree announced that it is on track to have 500 Dollar Tree Plus stores by the end of the 2021 fiscal year .Another 1,500 stores are planned for the 2022 fiscal year, and at least 5,000 Dollar Tree Plus stores are expected by the end of the 2024 fiscal year. “We are a ‘test-and-learn’ organization which is what we are doing with this new initiative. We listen to our customers and believe it will make shopping with us an even better experience,” said Michael Witynski, President and CEO of Dollar Tree. “Our merchants have proven that they are among the best in the industry in working with suppliers to create extreme value, and we will continue to deliver the ‘thrill-of-the-hunt’ to our customers.” Dollar Tree currently operates 105 Combo stores and expects to add 400 more in the 2022 fiscal year, with the potential of up to 3,000 over the next several years. In total, Dollar Tree operates 15,865 different locations across 48 states and five Canadian provinces. It’s not clear if any Dollar Tree Plus or Combo stores will be established in the Volusia or Flagler County areas anytime soon.
