Detectives Searching For Lake Helen Rape Suspect

Lake Helen, FL - The Volusia Sheriff’s Office is now in the process of investigating an early-morning rape at a Lake Helen Park. Investigators say a young woman in her 20’s was visiting Colby-Alderman Park off of Massachusetts Street around 10 p.m. on Saturday (August 1st). According to her narrative, an unknown white male appeared to start following her around midnight and 1 a.m. on Sunday (August 2nd). As the victim walked back to her vehicle, she said the suspect grabbed her by the neck, threatened her and raped her. Afterward, the suspect ran away. VSO says the woman described the white male suspect as 40 to 60 years old, around 6’0” 6’4” with a stocky build, brown mid-length hair and possibly a square-shaped earring. The investigation remains active and ongoing.
