A fatal shooting in Daytona Beach’s Derbyshire Park on Sunday is being investigated by the Daytona Beach Police Department, the agency announced that day. The incident occurred in the early morning hours on Sunday. Officers were first called to an area hospital for a patient with apparent gunshot wounds. An initial investigation determined that the incident occurred at Derbyshire Park, near the intersection of Mason Avenue and Nova Road. According to the DBPD, two adults met and parked their vehicle at Derbyshire Park. Both were adults. They were said to have been approached by a man who police say they did not know. A disagreement arose, and this individual was said to have pulled a gun. The man in the car is then said to have produced his own gun and begun telling the unknown person to leave. That man reportedly started walking away before turning around and firing multiple rounds. Both men were hit in the ensuing shootout. Both the man and woman then drove themselves to the hospital, the DBPD says. Police responded to Derbyshire Park at the scene of the shooting, where they located the other individual deceased. In their statement on the incident, the Daytona Beach Police Department says they have identified all involved individuals. No identities have been disclosed as of Monday afternoon. No charges have been announced, and no motive has been put forth by the DBPD. An investigation is active and ongoing, but the DBPD says there is no continuous threat to the public.
