Deltona resident Kenneth Ross Jr, 42, was convicted and sentenced last week on three drug-related charges. He was found guilty of fentanyl trafficking, oxycodone possession, and drug paraphernalia possession following a two-day trial. Immediately after the verdict was delivered Ross was sentenced to 25 years in prison. The prosecution of Ross began on January 9th, 2025 when Volusia Sheriff’s Office personnel executed a search warrant on his home in Deltona. They’d been investigating Ross for several months to that point. In their search, deputies reportedly discovered fentanyl and oxycodone, plus a handgun and $25,000. The case against Ross was handled by Assistant State Attorneys Philip Dunlop and Daniel Megaro, who work with the State Attorney’s Office in Florida’s 7th Judicial Circuit. Circuit Judge Karen Foxman presided over the case. “This case is a prime example of your prosecutors’ efforts to attack and destroy the fentanyl trade in our communities,” said State Attorney RJ Larizza after the verdict and sentencing. “Many lives were saved by removing fentanyl and one of its traffickers from the streets.” Prior charges against Ross in Volusia County’s inmate records include battery, heroin possession, sale/possession within 1,000 feet of school, possession of methamphetamine with intent to sell, and possession of cannabis with intent to sell among others.
