DeLand Mayor Undergoes Monoclonal Antibody Treatment

DeLand, FL – Mayor Robert "Bob" Apgar announced that he tested COVID-19 positive last week. He has been fully vaccinated and asked residents to "get vaccinated to protect yourselves and your loved ones and follow all of the CDC guidelines." Mayor Apgar Test Positive For COVID-19, Urges Residents To Get Vaccinated Yesterday, (August 21) Apgar underwent monoclonal antibody infusion treatment at the Ormond Beach Senior Center which just opened on Friday. The treatment is available for patients diagnosed with COVID-19 or considered high risk if infected. The location is open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily and can serve more than 300 patients per day. In addition to facebook posts I have gotten numerous texts, and phone calls. I am humbled by how many people near and far have reached out to me during my illness. I feel a little better and some of my symptoms are a bit better. some of you have asked about or suggested getting the monoclonal antibodies which I have done. I got them at the state site in Ormond. I hope that helps over the next several days. I registered online. At that site the antibodies are given by injection- 4 shots one in each arm and one on each side of my abdomen. Process was fairly easy. You do have to wait 1 hour after the shots though. Again thanks for all of your thoughts and prayers.
