The Daytona Beach Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred on Sunday, the agency announced. The incident occurred at around 3:30 am on Ontario Court, just down the street from nearby Campbell Middle School. Officers responded to the 200 block in the early morning after a report was made of a person having been shot. Subsequent witnesses called in to report hearing multiple gunshots nearby. The responding officers found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite the efforts of emergency response personnel, the victim succumbed to their injuries. In the aftermath of finding the deceased victim, officers located three more victims who’d also been shot. Two were listed as having been in critical but stable condition, while the other was treated and released not long after the shooting. The Daytona Beach Police Department has stated that they believe all four victims were connected to the same shooting incident. Shortly after the shooting took place the DBPD said there was no ongoing threat to the community, and that it was believed to have been an isolated incident. No suspect or motive have been identified as of Wednesday. Anyone with information that could be of use to the DBPD in their investigation of this case is asked to contact Detective Edwin Soto by calling (386) 671-5420 or by emailing SotoEdwin@DBPD.us.
