Orange City’s city manager, Dale Arrington, has announced that she’ll be retiring in August. A letter of resignation was submitted to the city government on July 22nd, according to a report from the Daytona Beach News-Journal. She’ll work her final day as the chief administrative employee of the city on August 29th. “It has been a privilege to contribute to the growth and development of Orange City. I am grateful for the many opportunities I have had to work for dedicated City Councils, and alongside so many talented staff members,” the resignation letter said. “I also deeply appreciate the support provided by citizens as Orange City worked to meet new challenges.” The Orange City Council will be discussing its next moves at their August 12th meeting, the next one they have on the schedule. One possibility would be that Assistant City Manager Christine Davis may work as the interim city manager while the Orange City Council initiates the hiring process of Arrington’s permanent successor. Recruitment processes for cities searching for city managers often involve contracting a third-party firm with a national database of prospective candidates for the job. Cities also sometimes hold the search process themselves, creating a traditional job posting and working with the field of applicants who respond.
