DeLand, FL – The recent surge in demand for COVID-19 tests has led Volusia County officials to open another testing and vaccination site at the Volusia County Fairgrounds. The site will open up on Monday (Jan. 10) beginning at 9:00 in the morning. The site will operate from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. Family Health Source has been contracted by the county to operate the site, which is free to the public. Pre-registration is required to schedule a COVID test or vaccine. The portal to register will open at noon on Sunday (Jan. 9) for appointments this Monday and then will reopen one day at a time for the next available appointment day, i.e. it will open on Monday for Tuesday appointments, Tuesday for Wednesday appointments, and so on and so forth. You can find the registration portal by going to the Family Health Source website (click here). Insurance isn’t required to receive a test or vaccination. Those with insurance will be asked to provide their information during online registration. You will not be billed any copay or coinsurance. The site will offer the rapid antigen COVID test, which consists of a nasal swab performed by a trained employee of Family Health Source. Anyone age 1 and up is eligible, and residents don’t have to be experiencing COVID symptoms to get tested. Results will be provided by a text message within about 30 minutes. Anyone who needs or wants a PCR test is encouraged to seek out other community testing sites that offer it. You can find an alternate testing site by visiting the Florida Department of Health website The site will offer both the Moderna and Pfizer COVID booster shots, also as a drive-thru service. You must bring a photo ID and their insurance card if they have one on the day of their appointment, regardless of whether it is a testing appointment or a vaccination appointment. The site can be accessed from the Fairgrounds entrance on Prevatt Avenue. The site will also close on January 17 for Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
