COVID-19 Testing Continues With Changes At Volusia County Fairgrounds

DeLand, FL – COVID-19 testing at the Volusia County Fairgrounds will continue through October 16 with some changes. The extension comes after testing was scheduled to end on Tuesday, September 29. The testing will still be provided by the Florida Division of Emergency Management. Beginning Thursday, October 1, testing will take place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. every day inside the Hester building. Drive-up testing will no longer be available. This indoor location   allows for the site to operate seven days a week. Also beginning on October 1, only viral testing will be offered; antibody testing will no longer be available. “Since the site opened in August, we’ve seen continuing demand for COVID-19 testing at the fairgrounds,” said Emergency Management Director Jim Judge. “The site has proven to be a quick and easy process, and viral test results are consistently being delivered within the two to five day time frame. We’re grateful to the state for recognizing the importance of this site in our county and for being willing to extend the deadline so that individuals can continue to get free viral testing.” No symptoms are required for viral testing and it’s available for individuals five years of age and older.
