College Basketball Invitational Beginning Monday At The Ocean Center

Daytona Beach, FL – If you’d like to be closer to the action of March Madness than your television, your in luck because the College Basketball Invitational tournament will take place entirely at the Ocean Center in Daytona Beach beginning on Monday. The Division 1 men’s college basketball tournament this year includes DeLand’s own Stetson University, along with Bellarmine, Pepperdine, Longwood, Bryant, Bowling Green, Coastal Carolina, and Army West Point. “After an unpredictable 12 months, we’re thrilled to be able to host a 2021 tournament, and even more excited to bring that competition to the Ocean Center in Daytona Beach,” said Rick Giles, president of the Gazelle Group, which organizes the event. “While much of the world transitioned to a more virtual lifestyle, you can’t play basketball through a screen. We’re impressed with the National College Athletic Associations’ commitment to ensuring athletes were able to safely compete this year, which in turn makes events like ours possible.” This year’s tournament takes place March 22 through 24 and consists of an eight-team bracket, with single-elimination to determine the 2021 champion.“We’re working with the Ocean Center for an event in November—our first event at the facility—and when it became apparent we’d need a location for the 2021 CBI tournament, it only made sense to see if the facility could accommodate the tournament as well,” said Giles.“This is another example of the power of relationships,” said Ocean Center Director Tim Riddle. “By ensuring each of our clients feel valued, we’re able to secure additional business when the opportunity arises. And this not only benefits the Ocean Center but our community at large, as it provides a chance to introduce event attendees, along with their friends and families, to our area.” Tickets are not available ahead of time. You will need to purchase at the Ocean Center box office. The tickets cost $20 per person, per day, and only cash will be accepted.
