Cold, Wet Weekend Ahead For Volusia & Flagler

Daytona Beach, FL - Looks like residents in Volusia and Flagler can expect the low temperatures to linger a bit longer as a cold front is expected to bring cold and wet weather over the weekend and into the start of February. And, even with rain in the forecast, it looks like this year’s running of the Rolex 24 will remain dry, albeit a bit cold. Forecasts from the National Weather Service in Melbourne and Jacksonville show  that while temperatures will remain somewhat low between Friday (January 29th) and Monday (February 1st), a small warming trend will bring temps up to the mid 70s by Sunday (January 31st) in Volusia and Flagler. A ridge of low pressure over central U.S. will also shift east on Saturday and reach the Ohio Valley on Sunday morning. Throughout Sunday, forecasters predict that a cold front will extend from the low pressure ridge towards the western panhandle and central gulf areas.  Their latest model runs show that the front is expected to approach the Volusia and Flagler area sometime around midnight, bringing with it colder temps and elevated rain chances. As of Friday morning, both counties have a 50 percent chance of rain between Sunday and Monday. By Monday night, temperatures around the Daytona Beach and Palm Coast areas are expected to hover near the mid to high-30s before hitting the upper-50s by Tuesday.
