Palm Coast, FL – A probation officer in Flagler County originally responded to a Palm Coast home to investigate a probation violation involving a weapon. Instead, they found a whole lot more. The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office says the probation officer was sent to a home on Round Table Lane on Thursday (Dec. 15) to investigate a possible violation of 35-year-old Jonathan Young’s probation, which came about because of a charge for possession of marijuana over 20 grams. When the probation officer entered the home, he discovered several pounds of marijuana in plastic bags, mushrooms, money, and a laptop. That’s when he dropped the search for the weapon and instead informed deputies about the drugs he had found. The FCSO Special Investigations Unit later secured a search warrant for Young’s home and served it the same day it was filed. In their search, deputies seized 12 grams of cocaine, 3.5 pounds of cannabis, and a large amount of drug paraphernalia. A photo provided by investigators shows multiple bags of marijuana, a bag of what appears to be psilocybin mushrooms—also known as magic mushrooms—and edible THC candy. Deputies have not confirmed in their report if those are indeed hallucinogenic mushrooms. It is also not clear if deputies discovered a weapon, as that was the original reason for the initial check. “This guy has been a frequent flyer at the Green Roof Inn,” Flagler Sheriff Rick Staly said. “Our SIU team and the Probation Officer did another great job acting quickly to get a search warrant and seize these illegal drugs.” Young has been previously arrested on other drug possession charges in the Flagler County area. He’s also been charged in other jurisdictions with battery on a law enforcement officer, resisting officer without violence, disorderly intoxication, and distribution of hallucinogen. He’s now back in the Flagler County Jail, charged with possession of cocaine with intent to sell, possession of marijuana with intent to sell, possession of drug paraphernalia, and violation of probation, netting him no bond.
