DeLand, FL - COVID-19 testing in Volusia County will carry on into November, but with a few changes in place once again. One of the first changes will remove the age requirement for the self-swab test at the Volusia County Fairgrounds—which is still expected to run through to October 30th. Identification is no longer required as well, but it is encouraged as it does help speed up the process. Insurance is also being requested for testing, but patients will not be billed a copay or coinsurance. In addition, uninsured patients will still be tested for free. The site will continue to operate from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. daily. According to an email from the county, rapid tests are also slated to arrive at the fairgrounds in the coming days. After those tests arrive, the tests will be available to patients of all ages with results expected within 15 minutes. Individuals will be encouraged to get a rapid test first, then consider a PCR test if their results are negative but they are symptomatic. PCR tests will also be available to individuals requiring official documentation of testing or upon request. And, beginning on November 2nd, the testing site will relocate to the New Smyrna Beach Regional Library on Live Oak Street. The site will be located behind the building with clearly marked signage. The new site in NSB will also carry similar hours, with operations running from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., seven days a week until November 30th. However, the site will not be operation on November 26th and 27th for the Thanksgiving holiday. Appointments are not needed at either location and no symptoms are required for testing.
