A special commemoration Saturday at Allen Chapel AME Church, 580 George W. Engram Blvd., that includes a spoken word and musical experiences featuring the greatest speeches by Dr. King. Master’s Domain Church of God in Christ is hosting “An Afternoon of Civil Rights” event featuring area pastors, elected officials and community leaders beginning at 4 p.m. Sunday. The church is at 511 Fremont Ave. and the event is presented by Seven Words from the King, Inc. MLK Daytona Beach: A prayer at 9:30 a.m. Monday at Allen Chapel AME Church, followed by a march at 10 a.m. and community festival from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Daisy Stocking Park, 550 Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune Blvd. The drumline from the Campbell Middle School band will participate in the community prayer. The march will travel a round-trip loop from Allen Chapel and include Garden Street and George W. Engram, Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. boulevards. The commemorations are presented by the MLK Celebration for Florida, Inc. Special showings of the Academy Award-nominated documentary, “KING: A Filmed RecordFrom Montgomery to Memphis,” at the Museum of Arts & Sciences. The showings at the museum are sponsored by Zone 3 City Commissioner Quanita May, Allen Chapel AME Church and 623 Management Inc.
