Boxer Bringing Fight Night To The Ocean Center

Daytona Beach, FL – Christy Martin, one of the most successful female boxers in the United States, is set to bring an array of boxing talent to the Ocean Center for a fight night on the beach. The event, hosted in association with Payne Boxing Management, is known as "Christy Martin’s Fight Night Battle at the Beach 3," and it’s set to take place Saturday (August 15th). “Daytona was my home in the early ‘90’s. No one is promoting boxing here, so I would like to build Daytona into a place to be for great fights,” said Martin. “We have 13 exciting bouts on the show Saturday with tremendous fireworks promised. CMP and Payne Boxing are not just bringing professional boxing, we are bringing WBA title fights to the Ocean Center.” And one doesn’t have to look any further than Martin’s own story to recognize the fighter she is, both in the ring and outside the ring. Martin’s career in the ring spanned more than three decades. In that time, she amassed a record of 49-7, with three draws and 31 wins by knockout, and won the World Boxing Council’s Women’s Super Welterweight title after a 10 round fight. Additionally, she was the first woman to be promoted by Don King and was one of the first women inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame. Martin also faced battles in her personal life, which included both an abusive husband – who attempted to murder her in November 2010 – and a drug addiction. But, she still found the strength to fight back. “God has blessed me, and in return I want to help up and coming boxers achieve their dream of becoming a world champion,” said Martin. The main event features Alberto Palmetta, who boasts a 13-1 record and competed in the 2016 Olympics. Additional participating boxers include Torres, Fortunato Saya and King. Doors open at 5 p.m. and the first fight begins at 6 p.m. Tickets, which can be purchased online, are $42 for general admission and $62 for floor seats. Masks will be required and social distancing measures will be implemented. The event will also be broadcast live on pay-per-view by QC Broadcasting.
