Arrest Made In Fatal Shooting Of Deltona H.S. Student

Deltona, FL –  The Volusia Sheriff’s Office has charged 43-year-old Markland Roberts in the fatal shooting of 16-year-old Xyrus Zelaya, a Deltona High School student, on October 30, 2021. Fatal Shooting At Deltona House Party From the Volusia Sheriff’s Office Facebook page: CASE UPDATE: Tonight, after a thorough investigation, detectives arrested Markland Roberts, 43, Deltona, in the Oct. 30 shooting at a house party that killed Xyrus Zelaya, 16, and injured another juvenile victim. Roberts is charged with manslaughter with a firearm and attempted manslaughter with a firearm. No other details have been released at this time. Roberts was arrested on Wednesday evening at about 7:15 p.m. He’s out of jail on a $35,000 bond.
