DeLand, FL – More than $20 million is available through Volusia County’s Emergency Rental Assistance program to help residents who have experienced financial hardship during the COVID-19 pandemic. The application process opens tomorrow, July 20, at 9 a.m. Volusia County Community Information Specialist Pat Kuehn says applicants should be prepared. "We encourage applicants to have their documents scanned and ready to go before the portal opens and then to jump on it precisely at 9 a.m. because thousands of other people will be applying at the same time." Kuehn says applications will be reviewed in the order they are received with the window closing after 1,500 applications. "There’s a lot of need in our community and we expect to see the maximum number of applications within one or two hours. When that happens, the portal will close." County residents may submit an application online at www.volusia.org/era. The website is where you can find all the requirements and documents needed for a successful application.
