Another Student Arrested Over School Shooting Threat

Bunnell, FL - A 12-year-old student is now facing charges after they told other students that they planned to shoot up the school. According to the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office, the Bunnell Elementary School student in question told multiple students about their "plans." Deputies eventually met with the student and their parents in order to learn more about the incident. The student admitted to making the threat, claiming that it was a joke. But, despite appearing "remorseful and apologetic," the student was taken into custody and charged with false report concerning the use of firearms in a violent matter. Flagler Sheriff Rick Staly, whose agency has dealt with two other school-related threats in less than a month, spoke about the matter in a prepared release. "Parents – it is time to talk to your children and remind them that their words matter. Please be the Sheriff in your home so we don’t have to be,” Sheriff Staly said. “This is the third case in as many weeks. We have a zero tolerance policy for threats in Flagler County, especially when it comes to our schools." Just before the end of January, two students were arrested in Flagler County for school-related incidents. One student recorded a song that contained threats against a Matanzas High faculty member, while the other student, who was 11-years-old, made a bomb threat against Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic School. Two students were also arrested in Volusia County around the same time after they brought airsoft guns on campus, one of which was used against another student.
