Daytona Beach, FL – AdventHealth is teaming up with the NASCAR Foundation to offer a COVID-19 vaccination event for children featuring a kid-friendly atmosphere for those who struggle with vaccines. Both AdventHealth and the foundation hope that the friendlier atmosphere will make it easier for those who struggle with being vaccinated in a public place. “Providing health and medical resources to children is at the heart of The NASCAR Foundation’s mission,” said Nichole Krieger, executive director of The NASCAR Foundation. “We’re proud to partner with AdventHealth and ONE DAYTONA to provide this opportunity to families in the Daytona Beach community.” The event will be held on Saturday (Dec. 11) from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at One Daytona. ArtHaus, a local youth arts organization, will help contribute to the kid friendly experience by providing arts and crafts activities for children, to help entertain them while waiting for their vaccination. And besides crafts and activities, kids will also go home with a free food voucher to either Donnie’s Donuts, Jeremiah’s Italian Ice, or Ben & Jerry’s; all of which can be found in One Daytona. Kids will also receive a discounted offer to attend the Magic of Lights holiday drive-through display at Daytona International Speedway. In addition to this event, AdventHealth will provide vaccines to local pediatricians officers, where one might feel more accustomed to being vaccinated. There is no out of pocket cost for a vaccine. However, those with health insurance will be asked to provide their plan information so an administration fee may be collected. Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. This is for the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine, meaning you will be required to schedule a second appointment. As part of the process, those who receive a vaccine will be asked to wait an additional 15 minutes before leaving to ensure there are no adverse reactions. AdventHealth medical staff will be on-hand to assist with any problems. Typical side effects include mild arm soreness, fatigue and headache.
