AAA: Gas Prices Slip, Unaffected By Tropical Storm Sally

Daytona Beach, FL - The latest gas report from AAA says Florida’s gas prices are slipping even as Tropical Storm Sally bears down on the Louisiana-Mississippi coastline, home to 10 crude oil refineries. "As of Sunday night (September 13th), this storm was not having much of an impact on gasoline prices, but that could change this week, depending on the severity of the storm," said Mark Jenkins, spokesman for AAA. "For now, it appears retail prices could continue to decline this week, due to the 10-cent drop in wholesale gasoline prices last week." At the start of the week prior, Florida’s state average was hovering around $2.19 per gallon (regular unleaded). As of Monday morning (September 14th), that price dropped three cents to $2.16 per gallon. Prices also slipped locally in the Volusia and Flagler County markets. Last week, both counties started the week with averages around $2.19, which has since fallen two cents to $2.17 per gallon. The highest averages seen in the state once again came from the West Palm Beach-Boca Raton area with $2.27 per gallon. Punta Gorda had the lowest, with averages around $2.11. The national average is $2.19 per gallon.
