Orange City, FL – The man who shot and killed a pregnant Orange City librarian after a road rage incident will not be charged. Andrew Derr shot Sara-Nicole Morales outside of her mother’s home in November as her mother was on the phone with her. Witness reports say Morales was waving a gun around before she was fatally shot by Derr, who has a concealed weapon permit. Following a probe by the State Attorney’s Office and the Orange City Police Department, authorities decided not to file charges against Derr. The shooting in question stems from a road rage incident involving Morales and Derr. Back in November, Morales supposedly merged into Derr’s lane and caused him to swerve. Derr got angry at Morales and followed her until she got to her mother’s house. A witness also followed the pair back to her mother’s home. A short time after Morales went into her home, she came back out and started to wave her gun around, which is when a witness called 911. After allegedly pointing the gun at Derr and the witness, Derr grabbed his own gun and shot Morales. She was later pronounced dead at the hospital. In the wake of her death, the libraries in DeLand and Pierson were closed so employees could process and mourn her passing.
