South Daytona, FL – Three adults are without a home and one juvenile is in custody after a brush fire became a house fire at 526 Brook Circle Monday afternoon. According to South Daytona Fire Chief David Giles, several juveniles have been identified as possibly being connected to the fire, with one already in custody. “Some juveniles started a fire, using a Christmas tree in the woods. It got out of hand and the embers went up in the air, of course, the fire spread, and some embers landed on the roof of a house and caught the roof on fire.” Chief Giles said there was minimal damage to the house. “It was mostly water damage to the inside of the house where they had to pull some ceiling to check for fire extension after they put the fire out on the outside of the roof.” Red Cross services were requested for the occupants of the home. Fire crews from Port Orange, Ponce Inlet, Volusia County, and the Division of Forestry took part in battling the fire.
