Daytona Beach, FL – Volusia and Flagler residents are being asked to take a community health survey in order to help create Community Health Improvement Plans (CHIPs) to address specific opportunities for improved community health. FDOH – Volusia Assistant Director Ethan Johnson said the countyhealthsurvey is an important component in having a healthy population. “It’s really important for community members to have an opportunity to participate in these surveys because it really drives some of the decisions that are made that impact them directly.” Creating a CHIP is required every three years. In Volusia and Flagler counties, health department officials collaborate with AdventHealth, Flagler Cares, Halifax Health, SMA Healthcare and county government to develop shared assessments and improvement plans. Johnson said besides the online survey, the health department and its partners are taking a multi-layered approach. “We’re doing one-on-one interviews with people from different communities within Volusia and Flagler, to get their perspective within this survey. So it’s really a multi-layered survey that’s going to gather that information and really tell us what’s going on and what are those top priorities in terms of the community’s health that need to be addressed.” If you’d like answers to your questions, Johnson offered his phone number and email address. “They can call me directly. My number is 386-274-0605 or then can email me at ethan.johnson@flhealth.gov and I can get you the paper version of the survey.” The survey will close January 14, 2022.
