Daytona Beach, FL – Members of the Volusia County Affordable Housing Advisory Committee held a public hearing on Wednesday to review and choose recommendations to the Volusia County Council. Chair of the Committee Anne Evans said that this year, they have decided to choose a few items that would make the most difference. “Strategy “A” centers around the processing of approval of permits for affordable housing and how they are expedited. Strategy “E” concerns the allowance of affordable accessory residential units in residential zoning. This is like a garage apartment. Strategy “G” regarding flexible lot lines, including zero lot line configurations. Zoning requirements should be flexible enough to allow some leeway.” The recommendations will be forwarded to the Volusia County Council for review and discussion at the December 7 meeting.
