Elementary School Student Arrested For Making Another Bogus Active Shooter Call

Palm Coast, FL – A Flagler County elementary school student is arrested for calling in a fake active shooter situation; the second time she’s been arrested for doing so, according to deputies. The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) says the agency received a call on Tuesday (Oct. 26) from a Rymfire Elementary School student who claimed multiple shots were fired. When the school resource deputy and vice principal responded to the classroom where the shooting supposedly had taken place, they heard no gunshots. The teacher also stated he did not hear or see anything matching the report of a school shooter. Regardless, deputies searched the entire campus. An investigation into the 911 call eventually led deputies to an 11-year-old student, the same one responsible for another false report of a shooting at the same school on September 2. The student’s name has not been provided by law enforcement. “This student has not learned that you cannot and should not make false reports as we have previously arrested her for a similar call,” Flagler Sheriff Rick Staly said. “Threats are not a joke and false reports are not a prank! Obviously, this child has serious issues and is crying out for attention and help, but this is not the way to get it.” The student was arrested for making a false report of a shooting, misuse of the 911 system, and disruption of a school function. The Department of Juvenile Justice released her into her parent’s custody.
