Local Municipalities Share Wish Lists With Volusia County Legislative Delegation

DeLand, FL – During a meeting in DeLand today (October 6) elected officials from across Volusia County met with the Volusia County Legislative Delegation, which consists of state senators Jason Broduer, Travis Hutson, and Tom Wright, and state representatives Elizabeth Fetterhoff, Tom Leek, and Paul Renner. In a Twitter post, District 14 Senator Tom Wright said "today was a great opportunity to hear constituents bring up a varied list of concerns including mental health, infrastructure and much more." Daytona Beach City Manager Deric Feacher was at the meeting. In his newsletter, he said that "Hardy Smith, the city’s government relations administrator, asked for the delegation’s support for legislation that would give local governments throughout Florida the necessary tools to deal with social media driven, unpermitted events." Feacher also said "city, county and eastside municipalities were in consensus with a request for statewide legislation following last week’s Special Events Taskforce meeting. Requested legislation would allow actions such as preevent injunctions, promoter reimbursement of resource expenditures and increased fines for citations."
