Philly Flights Returning To Daytona Beach

Daytona Beach, FL – Following a successful inaugural run, American Airlines’ nonstop service from Daytona Beach to Philadelphia will return for the upcoming holiday season. The flights will be offered from December 16 to January 3 on peak days, leaving Philadelphia at 1:30 in the afternoon to arrive in Daytona around 4:00. Flights will depart from Daytona around 4:30 and arrive in Philadelphia around 7:00 at night. American Airlines announced the flights to Philadelphia last fall alongside additional seasonal nonstop flights to Dallas-Fort Worth from the World’s Most Famous Beach. Both flights were initially scheduled to run through early April, but due to strong demand, the Philadelphia flights were extended through September, while the Dallas flights were extended through the summer. “The Philadelphia area is among the top 10 origination and destination markets in our catchment area, which includes all of Volusia County, and the planners with American Airlines recognize the demand for service,” said Airport Director Karen Feaster. American’s route planners anticipate people from the Volusia area to seek out other travel opportunities in the northeast, such as Maine, Vermont, and Connecticut, by way of Philadelphia. “It’s always good news for the community when the existing airlines increase service at Daytona Beach International Airport,” said Joanne Magley, the airport’s director of Air Service, Marketing & Customer Experience. “Air service development requires continuous relationship building with airline planners, keeping them up to date on growth in our community and the growing need for additional air service.” In addition to the Philadelphia service, American Airlines will continue to offer their daily nonstop flights to and from Charlotte, North Carolina. Delta Air Lines will also continue to offer their mainstay service to Atlanta, Georgia. A recent Statewide Aviation Economic Impact Study from the state’s Department of Transportation shows that Daytona Beach International Airport provides an economic impact of over $2.1 billion annually to Volusia, while providing full-time employment to almost 2,400 local residents.
